Keep Thomas County Beautiful (KTCB) believes that each of us has a responsibility to protect and improve our environment. We support local coalitions of volunteers, businesses and government entities in enhancing our communities by preventing litter, reducing waste, conserving water, providing educational resources, and beautifying public spaces.

October
- Oct. 7, 2023 - Georgia Project WET Southwest Georgia River of Words Awards Ceremony: 105 Chehaw Park Road, Albany. This annual event is an environmental youth poetry and art competition for preK-12 students to express their local natural world. Thomas County has several student contest winners that will be recognized and then have their art entered in the statewide contest. The event is open to the public.
- Oct. 7, 2023 - Meigs Community Cleanup: The Virtuous Girls Youth Group of Meigs (Aldrena Williams) is partnering with KTCB to host a community cleanup. 25-30 volunteers are expected.
- Date TBD - Garden Committee Meeting: KTCB is planning to host a Community Teaching Garden committee meeting. Additional help is needed to work in the garden, help start a compost program, youth education, fundraising, plant identification signage, etc.
- Oct. 21, 2023 - Hands on Thomas County Day: KTCB is connected to 4 project sites. To volunteer or help with any of the below project sites please visit Hands on Thomas County to register.
- Rivers Alive Cleanup - litter cleanup at the Ochlocknee River boat ramp.
- Community Teaching Garden – workday at the garden.
- Millpond Rd/Adopt-A-Spot Cleanup- litter cleanup.
- Recycling Center- paint blue collection bins and bulletin board.
- Nov. 16 2023 - KTCB Board Meeting
Community Teaching Garden
Keep Thomas County Beautiful (KTCB) in conjunction with the Thomasville Community Resource Center (TCRC) and with the help of local volunteers and sponsors is revitalizing the garden component of the TCRC property to function as a community teaching garden. Raised bed gardens have been installed and planted along with fruit trees. For more information on this project and to follow along with the progress click here.

Seeing Watersheds - Thomas County - Thomasville
Established in 2011
Thomas County Commissioners recognized the need for educational programs and other efforts to combat litter in our community. After 12 months of research and work by an appointed pre-certification committee, the local KAB affiliate was approved. KTCB efforts include educational programs and projects to address such issues as litter, recycling, and beautification. |
