Leaders Against Litter

January 2020 - Tuesday Walking Club

Tuesday Walking Club  - These ladies routinely make a point of picking up litter along their route.  Not only are they getting some great exercise but they are also doing their part to to keep their neighborhood and their community clean.  These ladies truly are Leaders Against Litter and as such we salute you for what you do.

February 2020 - Rick Barnes

Picture
Richard (Rick) Barnes is a board member with Keep Thomas County Beautiful and his the chairperson for the 2020 KTCB Great American Cleanup. Rick joined the KTCB board in 2017.  Rick can be seen most weekends out and about in Thomasville picking up litter from the side of the road. He targets high traffic areas and areas that are undeveloped since they seem to have a high volume of litter.

March 2020 - Virtuous Girls Youth Group of Meigs

On March 7, this group brought together 44 volunteers that picked up forty-three 30-gallon bags of litter.  We would also like to include a special thank you to Oil-Dri for sponsoring the volunteer lunch.

August 2020 - Charles Shank III & friends

Charles and his friends enjoy spending time at the boat basin on the Ochlocknee river and took it upon themselves to clean up the litter that others have left behind.  Thank you for caring about the environment and the community we share.

September 2020 - South Georgia Adventures

This group led by Tim Hobbs have been doing excellent work keeping the Ochlocknee River, boat basin and surrounding area picked up.  The amount of litter they are removing is both incredible and sad at the same time.  No one wants to see all of this litter when trying to enjoy a nice day on the river.  This group is helping the environment, helping their community and teaching the younger generation that they truly can make a difference.
